• W. F. Trotter translation of the Pensées, Project Gutenberg #18269
  (release 2006, PD). Brunschvicg arrangement, sections I–XIV (source covers all
  XIV sections; KB ingestion scoped to I–VII — see ../CORPUS_BOUNDARY.md).
  Every blockquote in the KB is a literal substring of the cited fragment in this text.

FR — arbiter layer

• Léon Brunschvicg edition of the Pensées (Hachette), the classical French
  source of the numbering. Used as the authority for the famous formulas only:
  fragments 206, 233, 277, 347.
• The five arbiter lines quoted in the KB were verified verbatim against the
  Brunschvicg French (fr.wikipedia / ATHENA citation apparatus). A full French
  corpus fetch was not required for v1 since only these lines are FR-anchored.

RU — translation layer

• No single clean PD Russian Pensées is used as an evidence source. Where a
  Russian rendering of a quotation appears it is «перевод наш»: a careful
  academic translation from the Brunschvicg French, cross-checked against
  Trotter, and marked as such at every use site. It is a reading aid, never the
  verbatim evidence.
