Ничтожество без бога (misère sans Dieu)

Рамка всей Апологии: первая часть — «Misery of man without God», вторая —
«Happiness of man with God». Это не тезис «атеизм плох», а структурный ход:
показать, что человеческая природа непонятна сама себе, пока не введены две
истины сразу — что есть Бог, которого люди могут знать, и что в их природе есть
порча, делающая их недостойными его. Знание одной без другой рождает либо
гордыню философов (знали Бога, но не своё ничтожество), либо отчаяние атеистов
(знают ничтожество, но не Искупителя). «Бог философов» — доказанный из природы
деизм — почти так же далёк от Бога христиан, как атеизм: это «a God who is
simply the author of mathematical truths», а не «the God of Abraham, the God of
Isaac, the God of Jacob».
